Demographic: High School Girls & Business Executives

 

Purpose: To educate young women on the importance of self worth, confidence, education and more.

Speakers:

Amber Lane -   

Amber Lane is an Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native. Amber earned her Bachelor's degree in Social Work at Kentucky State University in 2011. She earned her Master's Degree in Social Work at the University of Louisville in 2015. Amber earned her LMSW (Licensed Masters Social Work) in 2017. In 2018, Amber relocated to Houston, Texas. Amber is currently a Licensed Social Work Counselor at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital. Amber travels between Oklahoma and Houston for Knowing Your Worth Inc. Amber is truly passionate about mentoring and helping young adolescent girls in the community. Amber has been mentoring since 2007, and she truly enjoys giving back to young females. Amber mentored young girls in high school and in college. Amber has always believed, if she is able to help and change one young girl's life, then her duty was completed.  Amber is the Founder and Executive Director of Knowing Your Worth Inc. 501(c) (3). 

Knowing Your Worth was established in 2017. Knowing Your Worth mission is to uplift young girls, to teach them that they are worthy and to always be respected. This is taught through workshops and mentorship, to brand future confident women. Knowing your worth target population is adolescent girls between the ages of 11-18 years in the Oklahoma City and Houston Metro Area 

Knowing Your Worth is here to serve and uplift girls who needs guidance and mentoring.  We provide different resources and initiatives for girls. Our top three initiatives are project prom, scholarship opportunities and the KYW Teen Summit. Knowing Your Worth has implemented a college component for college girls in Fall 2019. Amber released a guided journal for teen girls this in September 2019. The name of the journal is Knowing Your Worth Guide Journal. 

Amber is the founder of Social Work Mentoring and Coaching that was established in 2017. This service is for a social worker student, social work employee or aspiring social worker who is in need of guidance. Amber’s primary goal as a social work mentor is to be available and provide advice and mentorship when dealing with dilemmas, new aspirations and advice about the social work field. 

Amber is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and NASW member. In Amber's personal time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, friends and sorors. Amber also enjoys traveling, eating, shopping and empowering other women.
